Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

applying precautions and required action to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards

applying relevant legislation and workplace procedures

completing relevant documentation

identifying and using relevant equipment, processes and procedures

implementing contingency plans

interpreting and following operational instructions and prioritising work

modifying activities depending on operational contingencies, risk situations and environments

monitoring work activities in terms of planned schedule

operating and adapting to differences in equipment in accordance with operating procedures

reading and interpreting relevant instructions, procedures, information and

reporting and/or rectifying identified problems promptly, in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures

selecting and using required personal protective equipment conforming to industry and work health safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) standards

working systematically with required attention to detail without injury to self or others, or damage to goods or equipment.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

housekeeping standards and procedures

operational work systems, equipment or management, site and organisational operating procedures

quality standards and test/inspection criteria for products concerned

relevant regulations, codes of practice and Australian Standards

relevant WHS/OHS procedures and guidelines

safety data sheets (SDSs)/material safety data sheets (MSDSs), manufacturer instructions and workplace procedures

typical sampling/testing problems that may arise in work operations and products, and related options for action and solutions

workplace or site layout

workplace quality assurance principles and procedures

workplace quality procedures for sampling, inspection and testing products.
